04.04How to Mix Black & White with Color in a Photo
In Photoshop after you open your picture, you need to go to Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/Saturation and move the Saturation all the way to the left. I always copy the background in case I need to go back. It’s always better to be safe than sorry!
Then choose your History Brush Tool (Y) and just paint over the area you want to color. You can zoom in to get close to your lines, it doesn’t have to be exact just close. Sometimes the contrast between b&w and color can be pretty drastic. A quick fix for this is to lower the Opacity of the layer with color on it. This blends the total B&W and the one with color so there’s not so much contrast. It just depends on what you like best.
